The V100 degausser from VS Security Products is an automatic bulk degausser for
the high volume user. Since the introduction of high coercivity metal tapes the
need for a powerful degausser capable of erasing Betacam Digital/SP, MII, DAT
and DVC Pro in high volume has become essential.
The V100 bulk degausser has been designed to meet the requirements of the high
volume user. It is a conveyor unit which can run continuously and with one pass
operation can erase in excess of 75dB on 1,500 oersted tape.
With a throughput of over 2,500 cassettes per hour, and capable of handling all
compact media from floppy discs to high energy cassettes, the V100 degausser is
probably one of the most efficient high energy degaussers available. Typical
users include IT departments, broadcast and audio/visual, data storage &
back-up, CCTV.
- What is Degaussing?
A degausser is a fast, efficient way to remove all audio, video and data signals
from magnetic storage media. In the manufacture of magnetic media one of the
last production processes is for all magnetic media to be degaussed. This
ensures that all the particles are orientated completely at random leaving the
media free of any spurious signals.
- Why is Degaussing Important?
The process of degaussing is achieved by passing magnetic media through a
powerful magnetic field to rearrange the polarity of the particles, thus
completely removing any resemblance of the previously recorded signal. By
degaussing magnetic media before re-using you are returning it to its original
condition with all the particles orientated at random.
