The new Garner HD-2XT-e is a fast degausser specially developed for erasing hard drives. The HD-2XT-e degausser has a degauss cycle of only 15 seconds, allowing up to 240 3.5" hard drives to be erased per hour. Operation is simple; a hard disk is placed in the media tray. After the tray is closed the HD-2XT-e degausser will automatically charge and then send a short, very powerful electromagnetic pulse of at least 10,000 Gauss through the hard drive. This discharge (Capacitive Discharge) is powerful enough to erase hard disk drives of 2 TB and larger.

Optionally, the SCAN-1Xe Media Destruction Report Generator is available for the Garner HD-2XT-e degausser. This kit consists of log software and a barcode scanner. The Garner HD-2XT-e can be connected to a PC via an USB cable. Through the Media Destruction Report software, extensive information about each degauss cycle can be stored for auditing or reporting purposes.

In addition to erasing hard disk drives, the Garner HD-2XT-e is also suitable for erasing various magnetic tapes such as DLT, LTO, 3590, 8mm and more. A "pulse" degausser does not use magnetic coils to generate a continuous magnetic field but uses a short, very powerful discharge. This means that the system does not have to be cooled and can be used continuously. The Garner HD-2XT-e can erase a hard disk drive or tape in 60 seconds.

To ensure information on hard drives and tapes is effectively removed, the Garner HD-2XT-e has a number of built-in security measures; the degausser checks the stored power for each cycle. A built-in sensor also measures the magnetic field with each discharge. Any faults are shown via the LCD display. This ensures correct operation of the Garner HD-2XT-e degausser.

The Garner HD-2XT-e degausser can optionally be combined with a Garner PD-4He or PD-5e Crusher for physically destruction of hard disk drives.

The Garner HD-2XT-e degausser is also available with the IRONCLAD Erasure Verification systeem.
