The Garner Products SSC-25SSD-e Space Saver is a compact all-in-one solution for destroying hard drives and SSD's. The SpaceSaver consists of the HD-2SS degausser, the PD-5-e crusher, the SSD-1-e module and the SCAN-1-e Media Destruction Report Package.
With the HD-2SS degausser, hard disk drives can be erased quickly and safely. The system operates very simply; a hard disk is placed in the front tray of the degausser. After it is closed, the HD-2SS will automatically charge up and then send a short, powerful electromagnetic pulse of 8,440 Gauss through the hard drive. This discharge (Capacitive Discharge) is powerful enough to erase hard disks of 2 TB and larger.
The Garner PD-5-e hard drive Destroyer is a mechanical crusher for hard drives and SSD's. The PD-5-e is listed on the NSA Evaluated Products List. After a hard disk has been erased with the HD-2SS degausser, the PD-5-e can be used to crack the hard drive with a metal wedge in which the data platters, housing, reading heads and electronics are bent and broken. With the included SSD-1-e module, the PD-5-e can also be used for destroying SSD's. The SSD-1 module perforates the SSD with 90 pins, thus damaging all memory chips in the SSD. The SSD-1-e module can be stored in the SSD-Caddy which is part of the SSC-25SSD SpaceSaver system.
The SCAN-1-e Media Destruction Report Package comes standard with the SpaceSaver. This kit consists of log software and a barcode scanner. This allows extensive information about each degauss and crush cycle to be stored for auditing or reporting purposes. Information such as serial number, date/time and user ID is stored in the log together with the result of each degauss or crush cycle.
