Introduction

The MediaEraser MD-103 from Mediarecovery is a compact degausser suitable for fast and effective erasure of hard disk drives and tapes. The system operates simply; a hard disk or tape is placed in the degaussing chamber at the front. The MD-103 will automatically charge after pressing the Erase button and send a very strong magnetic pulse of 9,000 Gauss through the hard drive or tape. This discharge (Capacitive Discharge) is powerful enough to erase hard disks of 2 Terabyte and larger.

In addition to erasing hard disk, the MediaEraser MD-103 is also suitable for erasing various magnetic tapes such as DLT, LTO, 3590, 8mm and more. A "pulse" degausser does not use magnetic coils to generate a continuous magnetic field but a short, very powerful discharge. This means that the system does not have to be cooled and can be used continuously. The system can erase a hard disk drive or audio/video/date tape in 40 seconds.

Built-in sensors monitor the field strength during each erase cycle. This ensures that information on hard drives and tapes is effectively removed. The MediaEraser MD-103 is certified by the Polish Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW) and the Polish Academy of Sciences.
